CLIMATE What is Climate & Weather? Climate refers to the sum total of weather conditions and variation over a large area for a long period of time (more than thirty years). Weather refers to the state of the atmosphere over an area at any point of time. The elements of weather and climate are the same. ie; temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind, humidity and precipitation. CLIMATE OF INDIA • The climate of India is described as the ‘monsoon’ type. • There are perceptible (noticeable) regional variations in climatic conditions within the country. • For eg: In summer, the mercury occasionally touches 50 degree C in some parts of Raj. Desert, where as it may be around 20 degree C in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir. • On a winter night, temperature at Drass in Jammu and Kashmir may be as low as minus 45 degree C, where as in Tvpm may have a te...
